Vision

“To develop Champakulam as a model village that preserves its unique agricultural and cultural heritage while ensuring environmental sustainability, modern infrastructure, social justice, and an improved quality of life for all residents.”

  • Sustainable Agriculture: Promote environmentally friendly and modern agricultural practices in Champakulam, which is renowned for paddy cultivation and inland fisheries.
  • Heritage and Tourism: Preserve and promote the famous Champakulam Moolam Boat Race, the historic church, and the traditional craftsmanship of snake boat construction while developing responsible tourism.
  • Healthy Environment: Ensure the cleanliness and conservation of Kuttanad’s waterways and backwaters, creating a waste-free and eco-friendly region.

Mission

To realize this vision, the Grama Panchayat aims to undertake the following key initiatives:

  • Agricultural Development: Provide farmers with subsidies, quality seeds, and modern agricultural machinery, while ensuring protection against crop losses.
  • Infrastructure Development: Ensure the availability of safe drinking water, conserve and deepen canals and water bodies, and improve the quality of rural roads.
  • Waste Management: Implement source-level waste management through the Haritha Karma Sena under the “Waste-Free Nava Kerala” initiative and achieve a plastic-free Champakulam.
  • Social Welfare and Healthcare: Provide housing to the homeless through the LIFE Mission, strengthen primary healthcare services, and ensure the welfare of women, children, and senior citizens.
  • Transparent Governance: Strengthen e-governance systems to deliver Panchayat services efficiently, transparently, and free from corruption.
